Concealed Weapons Detection:  Pharad is developing a novel sensing technique for the identification of concealed metallic and non-metallic weapons.   This system is capable of detecting weapons concealed by clothing at a safe distance from the subject.

Hybrid Fiber Radio: Pharad is developing new enabling technologies for the realization of next generation wireless communications integrated with optical networks.  In addition to the development of high performance photonic links, Pharad is developing optimal network architectures that will realize the cost-effective delivery of radio signals over fiber, and new technologies for device integration at the antenna base-station.

Shipping Container Tracking:  Pharad is developing a wireless marine asset tracking system. Our intermodal container tracking system is an extremely robust, cost-effective and flexible solution that uses wireless communication for obtaining accurate position location and container status information.

Shipping Container Security:  Pharad is developing a low-cost wireless sensor that provides the following functions: detection of any container breaches, either in the container walls, floor, or ceiling; detection of any opening, closing, or removal of container doors; loading, movement, and unloading of RFID equipped cargo contents; and detection of any living persons or animals within the container.  In addition, the environment (temperature, humidity, shock, and vibration) is sensed by this device.

Wireless Communications in Hostile Environments:  Pharad is developing a wireless system for extreme environments that provides transparent interconnection between a range of standard off-the-shelf handheld or mobile terminals.  This compact ‘subterranean communications extender’ will allow military and civilians to transmit data, voice and video over long ranges, in restrictive and hostile environments where radios typically cannot operate.  The subterranean wireless system includes small wireless relay or repeater modules that support different radio frequencies, radio access protocols, data rates, modulation formats, users and applications, all in one compact device.

Maritime Vessel Automatic Identification System:  Pharad is developing a low-cost Class B AIS device that conforms to the IEC 62287 specification.  This device is intended for smaller boats and recreational vessels.  A large-scale deployment of AIS equipment will improve waterways management and help establish a successful waterway and coastline border security program.
