Body Wearable Antennas

The team at Pharad utilizes sophisticated, state-of-the-art software design tools to develop antennas that meet the necessary customer requirements.  Our manufacturing capability provides our customers assurance that quality antenna products are delivered on time.  The suite of printed antennas offered by Pharad through Octane Wireless include:

  • octave and multi-octave omni-directional and directive antennas
  • mobile and fixed wireless access telecommunication antennas
  • small unobtrusive internal antennas for handsets and electronic equipment
  • steerable phased array satellite communication terminal antennas
  • conformal antennas for secure millimeter-wave communications

Body Worn/Body Wearable Antennas:  Pharad has pioneered new technology in body worn antennas that provide unsurpassed gain and coverage for antennas mounted to clothing.  Our body worn antennas include models for JTRS, EPLRS, WLAN, and first responder applications.

JTRS Antennas:   Pharad has a growing line of conformal JTRS antennas, including airborne, vehicle mounted, body worn, and shipborne radiators.  Pharad's aircraft and UAV mounted conformal antennas provide maximum gain to the horizon from 100 to 2000 MHz.  Our vehicle-mounted JTRS antennas also provide maximum gain to 30 degrees above the horizon in a low profile ruggedized antenna operating from 225 to 2500 MHz.  Our body worn textile based antennas operate from 225 to 2500 MHz and provide unprecedented gain for body wearable applications.  The newest addition to our JTRS product line is the conformal UUV antenna, operating on selected JTRS waveforms from 1 to 2 GHz.

In-building Wireless Antennas:  Pharad has developed the world’s first future-proof in-building wireless antenna.  We have demonstrated unprecedented transmission efficiency in a single radiating aperture operating from 0.8 to 6.0 GHz.  Whereas competitive antennas offer either narrowband or multi-band solutions for in-building wireless systems, Pharad's in-building antennas provide transmission in a wide band through a single radiating aperture.  As in-building wireless systems are upgraded to provide additional and expanded higher-capacity wireless services, the costly upgrade or replacement of the antenna system can be avoided with the use of Pharad in-building wireless antennas.

RFID Antennas:  Pharad has developed miniature, highly efficient RFID tag antenna technology that vastly improves the performance of RFID systems.  The use of these low cost, efficient radiators provides greater identification range as the link budget is improved.

GPS Antennas:  Pharad has developed highly efficient single and dual-feed GPS antennas.  The single-feed antenna provides improved GPS receiver sensitivity through a highly efficient radiating structure.  The Pharad dual-feed GPS antenna provides a low-cost method of beam control, allowing anti-jam functionality to be realized without the use of high-cost beamforming electronics.

EPLRS Antennas:  Pharad has developed a body worn EPLRS antenna that easily mounts to the outside of the armored and tactical vests.

Telemetry Antennas:  Pharad researchers have developed telemetry antennas for use on missile systems and mortar systems.  These antennas are attached the skin of the missile and minimize the effect of the antenna on the aerodynamics of the missile.

WLAN Antennas:  Pharad has developed printed WLAN antennas that can be directly incorporated on the WLAN printed circuit assemblies.  This minimizes hardware and connectivity costs to low-cost WLAN equipment.

Metamaterials:   Pharad researchers are pioneering new work in planar and three-dimensional metamaterials to reduce surface wave effects and create highly efficient radiators.  Our expertise extends from VHF through to millimeter-wave structures, including multi-element arrays.
